Before the summer finishes winding down and the kids go back to school, take advantage of every opportunity to enjoy the many outdoor events that Huntsville has to offer!
This month, downtown Huntsville is putting on events for all ages and interests. Here are just a few:
Thursday Night Bikes: No bike? No problem! Borrow a bike and explore downtown, Twickenham, Old Town, or Five Points. The bike is completely free to borrow: simply register at the borrow station at Greene Street Market. There are only ten free bikes available, so make sure to get there early! The bikes are available to borrow on Thursdays, and you must be 18 or older to borrow one. The bikes are adult size, so if you want to ride with your kids, bring their bikes and helmets.
Sounds of Summer: August is the last month for Sounds of Summer in downtown. On Thursdays, the Jam Session on the Square—featuring live music—takes place on Westside Square from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Fridays, Downtown Live presented by Cumulus provides music and beverages to the Entertainment District from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Finally, on the second Saturday of the month, the Grotto Lights Concert Series in Big Spring Park East features music, a light display, and street food from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Join in any of these days for great music, delicious food, and quality time with family and friends.
Madison City Farmers Market: The Madison City Farmers Market has been providing Huntsville residents with outstanding locally produced food and crafts since its founding in 2007. Find fresh, delicious produce, cheese, eggs, meats, and other foods as well as skillfully made artisan soaps, candles, wood crafts, and more.
