Martinson & Beason, P.C. is proud to announce that our partner Doug Martinson II has been elected to the board of commissioners of the State Bar of Alabama. Composed of 75 members, The Board of Bar Commissioners is the governing and policy-making body of the Alabama State Bar. Doug will serve a three-year term expiring in July 2024.

Doug has an extensive record of distinguished service, contributing his time to a number of legal associations and community organizations. He was elected to two terms on the Huntsville City Schools Board of Education, and served as President from 2005, through 2010. He also served on the Executive Committee as Secretary and is the past President of the Madison County Bar Association.

In 2001, Doug was appointed by the Madison County Probate Judge as the County Conservator. He is an AV-preeminent rated attorney, in addition to his active involvement in the local community of Huntsville.

Doug earned his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law and an LL.M in tax law from the Boston University School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Alabama in 1990 and began practicing law at the firm started by his grandfather, Douglas C. Martinson in 1937.

His law practice concentrates on estate planning, probate, elder abuse, corporate, business litigation and contracts.
