The next episode of the Mo Show Live will feature Huntsville’s own Rodney Smith, Jr. who founded Raising Men Lawn Care Service in 2015. Morris and Rodney will be discussing Raising Men, the importance of providing youth with positive and constructive volunteer outlets, and philanthropy in general. Martinson & Beason is proud to have Raising Men as a client.
Raising Men has exploded since its founding by Rodney two years ago. There are currently eight chapters across the country, over 150 kids have joined, there are over 53,000 supporters worldwide, and they have collectively mowed over 2,000 lawns. Raising Men has been featured by local North Alabama television affiliates, NBC News, Fox News, the Today Show, Huffington Post, and more.
Raising Men Lawn Care Service was founded with the idea of making a difference one lawn at a time. The volunteer organization provides lawn care and other outdoor services such as snow shoveling and raking leaves for community members in need. Along the way, Raising Men seeks to build its youth volunteers into community-minded adults. Through the program, kids get a chance to give back to their community and build skills and relationships along the way.
Rodney formed the group in late 2015 after observing an elderly neighbor struggling to complete lawn care. After Rodney began cutting the grass for the elderly in his neighborhood, Raising Men quickly blossomed with the help of social media.
Rodney is originally from the island of Bermuda and received his undergraduate degree from Alabama A&M University. His upbringing in Bermuda featured neighbors helping neighbors. Through the program, Rodney seeks to bring that same community spirit to our area and others.
