The next episode of the Mo Show Live will air Wednesday, August 5th at 3 PM central time and will feature volunteer firefighter Blake Mathis. The Monrovia Vol. Fire-Rescue Captain will join Morris to discuss the role of volunteer fire departments in protecting our communities.

Raised in Florence, Alabama, Blake grew up in and around aviation. Starting at age 13, he embraced the pursuit of flying mastery and became a pilot only three years later. Following a decade-long career at the Rocket Center, Blake went on to become the CEO of Angel Flight Southeast.

Although he was surrounded by aviation growing up, firefighting also runs in Blake’s family. In fact, his dad was a career firefighter that served Florence for 26 years. Due to a lifelong passion for volunteer work, Blake decided to join Monrovia Volunteer Fire-Rescue following his dad’s retirement in 2011. He currently works for Air Evac, the largest air medical service in the United States.

In this episode, we’ll discuss how volunteer fire departments operate, how they’re funded, and the training volunteer firefighters undergo to serve our communities.
