The next episode of the Mo Show Live will air Wednesday, April 17th at 3:00 PM Central Time and will feature Attorney and NFL Agent Derek Simpson. Morris and Derek will be discussing what it’s like being an NFL agent, how being a trial lawyer helps him as an Agent, his career path, and the story of his client, Malcolm Butler, cornerback for the Tennessee Titans.
Derek Simpson is a partner with the Huntsville law firm Warren & Simpson, PC. Derek focuses his practice on automobile wrecks, construction accidents, trucking litigation, and products liability. He is a member of the National Trial Lawyers, Top 100 Attorneys. He is a Huntsville native and received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Alabama.
Derek represents Malcolm Butler, who currently plays cornerback for the Tennessee Titans. Malcom was signed by the New England Patriots in 2014. In Super Bowl XLIX, Malcolm intercepted a pass which led quarterback Tom Brady to give him a Chevrolet Colorado Brady won as the Super Bowl MVP. On March 15, 2018, Malcolm signed a five-year, $61 million contract with the Tennessee Titans. Malcolm is originally from Vicksburg, Mississippi, and attended the University of West Alabama where he majored in Physical Education.
Derek has been a certified NFL agent since 2012. Surprisingly, there are only about 830 current agents certified by the NFL Players Association, which works out to about one agent for every three NFL players. However, about three-quarters of players are represented by just 17% of the Agents.
