The next episode of the Mo Show Live will air Wednesday, October 24th at 10:00 AM Central Time and will feature Michael Sedlacek, Captain of Community Relations of the City of Madison Fire & Rescue Department. Morris and Michael will be discussing residential fire safety, fire plans, smoke detectors, how to discuss fire safety with kids, and more.

Michael has been with Madison Fire & Rescue for over ten years. He received his Paramedic Certificate from Calhoun Community College and degree in Public Safety and Emergency Management from Grand Canyon University. He is also CEO of Redeye Tactical Gear, LLC, which manufacturers Kydex holsters.

Madison Fire & Rescue has been nationally recognized for municipal fire protection, including the Class 1 Public Protection Classification from the Insurance Services Office (ISO).  Class 1 is the highest rating possible. Madison Fire & Rescue was incorporated in 1962 and now has three fire stations.

October 7 – 13 was Fire Prevention Week for 2018. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, there were over 1.3 million fires in 2015. Of those, there were 3,280 deaths and 15,700 injuries. Over 50% of fires were attributed to cooking. The next highest cause was Heating, which was responsible for 9.6% of fires. In 2016, Alabama was among the top highest states for fire deaths per million residents.
