Probate means to prove. Basically, the probate process is proving a will, and proving that that’s the last will and testament of a person, and also proving who their heirs are and to see if they have any creditors.
When a person dies, if they have a will, the person representative named in that will would follow the will for probate to prove it to the world that that is the last will and testament of that person.
He would also name the heirs and give notice to any known creditors. There’s also an advertisement that’s placed in the newspaper to notify any unknown creditors, and if those creditors don’t file a claim within the six months then their claims will cut off, and the same within the heirs.
The probate process is a fairly simple process to get it done and it’s also advantageous because it allows people to cut off any claims on an estate, or cut off any unknown heirs coming forward.
