When you think of summer, ghosts and ghouls don’t necessarily come to mind, but in Huntsville, Alabama, it’s never too early to start celebrating Halloween.

Huntsville Ghost Walks, which started in June and are continuing every Saturday into the glorious month of October, are your opportunity to join the ghosts and ghouls of the night.

Starting at 6 p.m. sharp, join the guides for a tour around one of three areas: Old Town Historic District, Twickenham Historical District, or Haunted Downtown. From there, you’ll take a two-hour journey around the neighborhood of your choice and get a spooky look at beautiful architecture while being immersed in the rich history of Huntsville.

Tickets for this event are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. They can be purchased in advance or on the night of the walk, a half-hour before it starts.

If walking isn’t really your speed, there’s also an option to take a trolley tour or join in on the Spooks and Spokes Bicycle Tour.

Tickets for the trolley tour are $12 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. The trolley tour still has the option of visiting the same three different locations as the walking tour, but will take one hour instead of two.

Every Saturday, there is only one trolley tour but three walking tours (one for each possible location to visit).

With Spooks and Spokes, there is one tour path that riders will take, passing places such as Dr. John Bassett’s house, home to the ghost of Marnie Coleman. Tickets for the bike tour are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Attendees must bring their own bike plus a helmet and be over the age of 12. There’s only one more day left for the Spooks and Spoke Bicycle Tour, so make sure you get your tickets in advance if you want to join your fellow ghost hunters on August 15 for the last bike tour of the season!

Don’t live too close to Huntsville?

No problem. Our friends who have been hosting the Huntsville Ghost Walk for seven years have also developed two other legs of the tour: one in Madison and one in Decatur, for our friends across the Tennessee River. There are tours for Madison every Friday all throughout the month of October.

They will take place at 6 p.m. sharp and cost the same as Huntsville walking tours.

The same goes for the tours in Decatur, though these tours will be starting a little earlier than Madison’s, beginning the first Friday of September and continuing every Friday throughout that month and the next.
