Throughout the holiday season, Martinson & Beason’s community service organization, MBCares, has collected camping gear, hygiene products, plastic bins, clothing, sleeping bags, hats, gloves, batteries, canned food, and other supplies for the homeless as part of the Tent City Project. The firm shares Tent City Project’s commitment to ensuring everyone in our community has the basic necessities to survive a cold winter. This year’s big drop-off of supplies will take place Saturday, December 16.

Founded by Amy Mansell in 2008, the Tent City Project serves hundreds of homeless and displaced people throughout the year. The cold winter months are an especially important time as they provide warm clothes and blankets to those in need. With our city’s growth in population comes an increase in the area’s homeless. In fact, according to Tent City Project, there are nearly 500 homeless people in the city the organization seeks to assist.

MBCares is a staff-led service organization with participation from attorneys, paralegals, other staff members, and clients. It was founded in 2016 with a goal to partner with local charities and organizations who directly serve Huntsvillians in need. While this year’s signature project was the Tent City Project, MBCares has completed several service projects throughout the year. Notably, the M&B family has volunteered with the Manna House to pass out food and other necessities.

MBCares is part of Martinson & Beason’s broader commitment to serving the community. In addition to providing trusted legal advice, the firm seeks to better the community through the March of Dimes & Team Will, Cap and Gown Project, the Huntsville-Madison County Volunteer Lawyers program, Tennessee Riverkeeper, the Land Trust and the Great Diaper Drive with Rocket City Mom.
