Now a staple event in Northern Alabama, the Rocket City Marathon has been entertaining and challenging runners for more than thirty-five years.
The marathon, held in Huntsville and named the “Rocket City Marathon” in honor of Huntsville’s significant contributions to space exploration throughout U.S. history, is one not to be missed!
The course loops around Huntsville, and runners can expect a fast and easy pace: there are only two hills in the entire course. This run is a Boston Marathon qualifier and has a six-hour time limit.
Though registration is closed, we encourage you to attend the race in support of your friends, neighbors, and family! (Cheering is absolutely free.)
The marathon begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. An awards ceremony and celebration is set to follow the race at 2:30 p.m. in the Grand Central Ballroom of the Holiday Inn Downtown (401 Williams). The day will continue with other exciting events, wrapping up with a marathon party from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Heritage Ballroom. The party will feature live music, DJ, and cash bar.
