2nd Deck Accident in a Month at Hoover Apt. Complex

A second story deck collapsed this past Saturday at the Waterford Landing apartment complex in Hoover, Al. Four people suffered minor injuries as a result of the deck's failure. This is the second time in a month a deck has collapsed at this apartment complex. On July 4th a deck collapsed at this same complex tragically killing one person and injuring 6 others. Authorities have yet to determine if this second collapse is linked to the same problem that caused the first deck to collapse. For now, the Hoover Fire Department has recommend that all residents at Waterford Landing stay off their decks.

Athens Alabama Drunk Driving Car Accident Injures Three

An alcohol related automobile accident in Athens (Limestone County) on US Hwy 72 was caused by a drunk driver who ran a red light and struck another car. Injured in the car wreck were a mother and her two children. M&B has been retained to represent the mother and her children in this preventable accident. The at fault driver was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI). We're hopeful that through our representation we are able to make a recovery for our clients that will adequately compensate them for the physical and mental injuries they have suffered in this wreck. We're also hopeful that we are able to send a message to this driver and others that this type of reckless conduct will not be tolerated on Alabama highways.

Alabama Personal Injury Lawyer Guide to the Personal Injury Lawsuit Process – Part Four

Trial Preparation: Preparing for trial requires lots of hard work and dedication even for the experienced Alabama personal injury attorney. In addition to preparing for each witness at trial, a personal injury attorney and his/her staff often must prepare many legal pleadings and motions that need to be filed in advance or at the time of trial in order to give their client the best chance of prevailing. These legal pleadings include: witness and exhibit lists, motions in limine, issue subpoenas, trial briefs, and jury charges to name a few. In addition to preparing these documents an injury attorney and his/her staff must also spend time preparing its witnesses and preparing to strike the jury (voir dire). A witness and exhibit list is exactly what it sounds like a list of each of the exhibits and witnesses a party intends to introduce into evidence and call to testify at trial. Typically, a witness and exhibit list has to be filed with the Court within 30 days prior to trial. Once this list is filed with the Court, the opposing party will then be given an opportunity to object to a particular witness or exhibit.

Birmingham Truck Accident Kills Passenger in Truck

An early morning Birmingham, Alabama truck accident has tragically killed a passenger who was in the sleeper berth of the truck at the time of the wreck. According to reports, the 18-wheeler overturned as it was traveling on the ramp to U.S. Hwy 280 from the Red Mountain Express. The initial investigation indicates the tractor-trailer may have been traveling too fast to make the curve. The victim was identified as Maja Tomevska of Illinois. Our condolences go out to her family and friends. In Alabama, under these circumstances where a passenger is injured or killed in a car or truck accident, the injured person or their family can not typically bring a claim against the driver of the vehicle they are riding in. Alabama has what is know as a Guest Passenger Statue, which generally prohibits a passenger or their estate from bringing a personal injury or wrongful death claim against a driver of a vehicle in which they are riding.

A car accident between a Mobile Alabama motorcycle officer and a car has sent the officer to the hospital. The motor vehicle accident happened at the intersection of Highway 90 and Rangeline road in Mobile.
