Xarelto Prescription Medication

If you’ve taken Xarelto and experienced serious side effects, you’re not alone.

Xarelto is a prescription medication used to treat deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, the forming of a blood clot in the legs and lungs of people who have just had knee or hip replacement surgery and to help reduce the risk of these conditions occurring again.  Xarelto is also used to treat people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) and reduce the risk of stroke.  People suffering from atrial fibrillation are at an increased risk of forming a blood clot in the heart, which can travel to the brain, causing a stroke, or other part of the body. Xarelto drugs sales are poised to exceed $1 billion in 2014.

Unfortunately, Xarelto can cause serious uncontrollable bleeding events, including hemorrhages and strokes.  While bleeding is a common complication associated with anticoagulants, it has been alleged that Xarelto is more dangerous than traditional blood thinners because no antidote exists to reverse its blood-thinning effects.  This means that, in the event of an emergency, patients may be at risk for irreversible bleeding problems, including life-threatening internal and gastrointestinal bleeds.

If you or a loved one was prescribed Xarelto and have suffered a serious bleeding event or other serious side effect please call us today.  During your free consultation, we’ll let you know all of your options and give you the guidance you need.

The Huntsville, AL personal injury and product liability lawyers at Martinson & Beason want to help you get justice for your pain and suffering.  Your claim could compensate you for your hospital bills, surgical expenses, emotional trauma, and other losses.
