Mark Ingram Uninjured in Huntsville Truck Accident

Former Alabama football star Mark Ingram was involved in a Huntsville truck accident. Fortunately, Ingram was uninjured in the wreck. According to the Huntsville Times, the automobile accident occurred this morning on Leeman Ferry Road in Huntsville, when Ingram's car collided with an 18 wheeler. Huntsville Police are still investigating the collision. Ingram was in Huntsville, AL along with former Alabama star wide receiver Julio Jones for a meet and greet at a local restaurant. Ingram is truly fortunate to be uninjured in this crash.

Bicycle Accidents Rise With the Popularity of Cycling

A recent car accident in Rainsville, Alabama is a sad reminder of the dangers of cycling on public roadways. On June 6th, cyclists Christina Genco of Boston was cycling across the country with a group when she was hit from behind by a passing car. Tragically, Ms. Genco suffered fatal injuries in this biking accident. An article in today's Huntsville Times, by Victoria Cumbow discusses the fact that Alabama State Troopers have completed their investigation into the wreck and now it is up to the local district attorney in DeKalb County to decide whether to present the case to the grand jury.

Alabama Taxes: Good News for the Elderly in Alabama

It is not breaking news to the elderly and senior citizens in Huntsville, Decatur, and the rest of North Alabama, that Alabama can be a great place to retire. But a new San Francisco Chronicle article rates Alabama as the 5th least taxed state for retirees! According to the article, Social Security benefits, military benefits, and public and private defined-benefit pensions are all excluded from state income tax. On top of that, "Alabama has some of the lowest property taxes in the U.S, but further...homeowners 65 and older are exempt from state property taxes." As another benefit to the Alabama retirees and elderly, prescription drugs are not taxed at all.
