Personal injury Attorney Morris Lilienthal recently settled a serious motorcycle accident case in which our client suffered a compound fracture of his right tibia as well as numerous other injuries. The wreck occurred on Bailey Cove Road in Huntsville when the driver of the car turned left in front of our client’s motorcycle. Since the driver of the car failed to yield the right of way we were able to clearly establish they were liable for the accident. Unfortunately our client had to undergo an open reduction and internal fixation surgery to repair his leg injury. Moreover, he had to endure numerous physical therapy sessions to help him regain his mobility and strength in his leg. Due the severity of his injuries he also had a significant lost wages claim. As such, we brought personal injury claims on his behalf for his medical bills, lost wages, out of pocket expenses, pain and suffering, scarring, and mental anguish.
At Martinson & Beason, P.C., we strongly recommend that you wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle. A helmet can’t prevent a motorcycle crash, but it can save your life if a crash ever happens. It can also make a ride more enjoyable, cutting down on wind and protecting your face from flying insects and debris.
However, you can’t wear just any helmet when riding a motorcycle. Different helmets are designed for certain activities. Just like you wouldn’t wear a construction hard hat when playing football, you shouldn’t wear a helmet not designed for motorcycle use during your ride.

As summer takes hold and the weather heats up, it becomes the perfect time of the year to hit the open road on a motorcycle. Riders enjoy the freedom that motorcycles bring—not the mention the ease of parking and other perks.
However, riding a motorcycle can be dangerous: motorcyclists don’t have the same protection that motorists do during an accident. With nothing to buffer them from the pavement but protective clothing and a helmet, motorcyclists can sustain serious injuries in an accident.
If you ride a motorcycle for fun or for practical reasons, you are aware of the danger presented on most American highways—drivers who are not looking out for motorcycles being primary among them. For many motorcycle enthusiasts, one way to combat the issue of visibility and general roadway awareness as to the presence of bikes is to travel in groups. Some motorcycle groups travel together for pleasure as much as for safety reasons. In the past, seeing groups of motorcycles would carry with it connotations of criminal activity (because of the Hell’s Angels and fictionalized accounts on television shows like Sons of Anarchy). But as modern riders and motorcycle marketers embraced the luxury of having the ability to travel solo (or with a single rider) and flaunted the ability to invest tens of thousands in a premium motorcycle—such as a Harley Davidson, for example—being part of a gang of motorcycles is akin to an expensive hobby.
